Well, Ned Yost is up to his shenanigans again. There's no reason to leave CC Sabathia in with a 9-2 lead, and run his pitches up to 130, a career high.
We've seen pitching mismanagement for his entire tenure here in Milwaukee. Unfortunately for us as fans, the club has already picked up his 2009 option. So, barring a horrible collapse like we saw last season, it appears the Brewers will make it to the playoffs...and Ned Yost will hang on as this teams manager.
I know there are a lot of apologists, or a lot of fans who, for one reason or another, think Yost does a good job. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, the fact is he doesn't. He second guesses his closer (Shouse in vs. lefty to start 9th?), he hangs starting pitchers out to dry (Suppan vs. Astros, Sabathia and Sheets vs Cubs, ANY bullpen pitcher (particularly Gagne and Mota) and etc), and he seems to consistently reward poor play with starts (On the season: Mike Cameron, Rickie Weeks, Bill Hall, Jeff Suppan), and he is trying to destroy both Sabathia and Jason Kendall's stamina before the regular season is even over.
Here's to hoping this talented team can continue to win in spite of its manager!
